What does the Foundation do?

The Foundation invites Eindhoven designers or designers having ties with Eindhoven one way or another to submit their product designs to be assessed. At the office of the Foundation in Eindhoven all applications submitted are registered and put before a product jury without any comments. (The Assessment and Advisory Body).

The Jury assesses the quality and origin of the designs. The criteria of origin are strict: the product must be designed in the Eindhoven area or by an Eindhoven designer elsewhere.

After a positive opinion the Board of the Foundation officially grants the Trademark to a product. From that moment onwards until it is revoked in writing, the designer is fully entitled to use the officially registered and protected Trademark “Eindhoven Design” for the product in question. After this the Foundation will do its best to protect the trademark product as much as possible; however, the designer him/herself should be the one to take the first steps in the case of established plagiarism. The Foundation will take legal action if the Trademark of the Foundation is fraudulently used. The Trademark “Eindhoven design” is registered with the General Patent and Trademark Office in Eindhoven.
