The SWED Foundation was founded in 2009 to give products designed in the Eindhoven area its own guarantee of origin. With its well-known industrial design agencies and the specialized design academies, Eindhoven has been recognized as the birth place of many excellent ideas and products. Many articles we use daily, from street lighting to coffee-makers, have been technically designed in Eindhoven. The SWED Foundation has now created a trademark so that it becomes clear to all users that a particular product has definitely been designed in Eindhoven by an Eindhoven designer, no matter where that Eindhoven designer may be working in the world. The Trademark is granted after an internationally qualified Assessment and Advisory Body has assessed if the product meets the criteria set.

By granting the trademark and protecting it worldwide, the Foundation seeks to bring the designation “Eindhoven design” to prosperity and protect it.
